If Only I Weren't Blind
by: Rob Paquin
If I could see, through these trees
Perhaps I'd see, the forest around me.
And if I could find, some peace of mind
Perhaps I'd find, what really confounds me.
I walk my roads and follow my trails
I search this world for reasons to grin
I try to keep the breeze behind my sails
As I contemplate all my sins
I see them cry and I hear them wail
And even as I know that I can't save them
I try to help them with their loads
Until my trail bends off again
If I could try to touch the sky
Perhaps I'd find the sun
And if I could watch that sun burn hot
Maybe I could find a way to have some fun
But on my path and as I go
I can only try to offer
These things I do and things I know
Inside my mental empty coffer
And with this painted smile upon my face
And with all these words I proffer
I keep a steady walking pace
As I ponder things so somber
If I could see inside of me
Perhaps I'd see a man worth knowing
And if my grin weren't so thin
Perhaps I'd find a smile that's worth showing
