strange morning
i woke up to my dog barking. it was early morning, somewhere between 5 and 6. i took off my headphones and heard shouting outside. it was a distant sound that happened every 15 or so seconds. i couldn't tell whether it was a man or an animal. it didn't sound like a scream for help, it was more like an aimless call, or that's how i experienced it. it sounded like a goat or a mountain lion, an animal that sounded like human. this is what my dog was barking at. i shooed him out of my room and continued to sleep with my headphones on.
during the short period that i slept before my day would officially start, i had a strange dream. i think i was in a theater or a similar establishment with dim lighting and dark, rich interior design. while there, i stabbed myself repeatedly in the stomach. the blade sunk in effortlessly, and the pain lasted only for the moment it pierced my skin. obviously my mind couldn't conjure a realistic experience. i felt something akin to relief as the blade sunk further into me. it was fascinating, and so i did it again. the wounds were mere slits with minimal bleeding. i was worried about the deepest one i had made, wondering whether i had done myself serious harm.
so that was my strange morning.
