Damn Near Forgot
To take the turkey out of the freezer. I took it out this morning and it is currently sitting on the counter in all its frozen glory. Hopefully it will thaw before Wednesday morning when I will put it in the brine bucket.
I work all week and will later today as well and for a bit on Thanksgiving Day. I am hoping to cut some wood that I drug out to the edge of the field last spring. I am behind (although this is not particularly unusual).
No hunting for me this year (and the last several) because I have a freezer full of beef and no time. Although I did tell a friend who is hunting on my property that I would help him make and smoke some summer sausage if he got more than one.
We have far too many deer here and they are really a nuisance so I hope he shoots a couple, although in retrospect, I am not sure how much time I will have to do what I promised. I will just have to make the time.
The year is almost over and I need to figure out a way to do something that isn't work. 60 years of mostly nothing else is hard to overcome.
Winter is coming although it is in the 40's here during the day now and in the upper 20's at night.
I am always cognizant of the past, as those of you that know me a bit probably realize. Better times. Better people. No less complicated really, in spite of nostalgic views and certainly harder. My Grandpa always said, "the good old days my ass. We shit indoors now." and I know exactly what he he meant.
Speaking of that....the coffee has had one of it's desired effects and is now going to force me to get moving instead of lollygagging around and rambling about nothing.
