I scooped up my grandson and said to him; True I'd like to go to the zoo with just you.
The boy became wide eyed And looked at me square. "Lions and black sheep" he said As if as a dare.
He knows that that zoo Is so much further away But I took up the dare And just said "okay"
He ran to his mommy In excited delight And he let her dress him Without even a fight.
He ran to the car And asked right on cue Using two simple words All he said was "The Zoo ?"
~The following are but a tiny fraction of the pictures I took today on my cellphone.~
This kid is calm cool and collected ! He loves the zoo and is always in one of his most relaxed states whenever we go. He loves staring at animals.
Eating an apple and sizing up the alligator decor. They light those things up at night and reopen the zoo at 6 pm. Ticket prices are around $30 per human regardless of age....
The Lions of Franklin Park Zoo. There's not much to say about this picture until the next picture...
This is half a jeep that's been reinforced, and then added to a giant wall of 6" think glass. Although uncommon, it is not unheard of to see the lions from the above picture, to come right up and climb all over this thing that protrudes into the enclosure. This picture was taken first, and the above picture was taken through the glass above the jeep. Xavier really likes this spot and would sit in the jeep for an hour if I didn't ask if he wanted to see the tiger...
This is the opposite side of the lion enclosure. If I am not mistaken, the tower structure is from the American revolution and was on the property when the zoo was founded. The strucre in the background has an African Safari Resort feel and was built as a facade for the outside edge of the lion's area.
You'd be zoning out too, if you had a chocolate and coconut covered frozen banana ?
Xavier has been to the 2 closest zoo's to us quite a few times each. He was pretty surprised by all of the amazing decorations that they use for their Zoo Lights special nighttime thing they do at Franklin Park Zoo.
We haven't been to it but will probably go next year around this time.
