I Think Good Friends Are Rare
Maybe I'm picky. Maybe I'm not. But good friends are rare, indeed.
To be a good friend, you don't have to like everything exactly alike the other person in a relationship. You're not twins, but you like some things that your friend doesn't.
For instance, I have a friend who likes to wear capri pants. I think, personally, that they make you look ugly, tight on the legs and never full length. She also wears "women petite" clothes and can't understand why I can't wear those sizes, too. I am younger than she is, but also bigger through the shoulders (a legacy from my father) and prefer full length slacks. But we are still friends.
I have both male and female friends. Many of them date back to school days, and we try to keep in touch, even if it's only birthday and Christmas cards. For instance, we had a beloved parish priest who retired, but I remembered his birthday and sent him a card on Christmas. He usually remembers me at Christmas time, and thanks me for thinking of him. He is the priest I worked for for a few years in the church rectory and he presided over my father's funeral mass a few years ago. This is why I consider him a good friend.
I have good friends in SW, too. Again, both male and female. Many of them ankled over to SW when EP folded, and we were glad to find each other again. When I check my SW mail, I note the topics they are talking about or questioning that particular day, and if I have an opinion or can share their thoughts, likes, and dislikes, I am glad these people did not disappear when EP did.
I have friends all over, and every one of them gives me back something in return by knowing they are there whenever I need or want them.
Thanks to you all!
