The elusive human connection...

Is it just me, or is the internet just dying? Or rather morphing from a community of humans into nothing more than a marketing and misinformation tool?

Just imagine that there was a time back in the day when people chatted on the internet with total strangers just for the sake of getting to know people and making friends. It was not that long ago. Those were the days of EP and many other internet forums.

But I get it. The word spread and eventually the internet became the domain of psychopathic pervs*, marketing professionals and geopolitical social engineers. The internet had so much potential, and that potential had to be exploited, squeezed until there was no more humanity left in it.

Nowadays, most of those who "interact" on the internet have just one thought: "how can I benefit from this? How can I make some money from this"?

These are my thoughts as I scroll SW's wasteland. One post every 15 minutes, or every half an hour. These are the few humans left. Very few. (yes, I have blocked/muted a lot of people, for reasons).

*(I have no problem with pervs who respect boundaries and seek like-minded, compatible people. But those who push their kinks on others, offending and/or making them uncomfortable, ruin it for everyone else)

I think it was always just some 'puter nerds' greedscheme. 99% of it is a total waste of time. There is no life to be lived on an electronic device.
