Are there many people 50+ here? I am looking for someone from years ago

I’m looking for people to help me find someone that lived in the Georgetown, Lexington, or around those areas in Kentucky in 1987.
His name was Joe. He was 15 and his last name started with an S, I think.
I was 17 and I met him on a trip to Kings Island with First Church of God in Georgetown. We got separated from the rest of the group, but he and I ran around together from that morning until 11pm, closing time. I was thankful that I got to spend that day with him. The next morning, at the church….he gave me his address. When I got back to Indiana which was where I lived…I neglected to write right away and I lost his information. 36 years later and I still think about that day.
The time that I spent there was a bit traumatic as the friend I stayed with was not a good friend and her parents all thought I ditched her at Kings Island, which was not the case. It happened by accident.
Anyway, prior to church the day after Kings Island, I was screamed at by the friend and the parents allowed her to act this way. The mother yelled at me too. It was so traumatic for me as I was several hours from home and she told me I needed to leave. It was awful. I’d never been treated so poorly as a guest in someone’s home. We get to the church where Joe was waiting for me. I remember hugging him and telling him what happened and that they were making me leave. I felt like he was the only one I could turn to at that time. I was also a little bit angry because if I had stayed for a few more days I would have gotten to know him better.
I have such a good memory of him. I’m 54 and he would be 51-52 now.
I was 17, but very young minded and naive. I still have trauma from that friend and her family.
Strange, but it’s true. It’s something that I had to have counselling for over the years because the friend was very abusive. She’d come to Indiana to stay with me in the summer and would verbally abuse me. Then she’d go home and I’d forget about it. I never told my parents what was happening. In June of 1987, I made the mistake of riding back to Kentucky with her family because she invited me to go to Kings Island with the kids from her church and it was also her birthday, I’m not sure Kings Island would have been much fun with her so I was actually thankful Joe and I got separated from them.
Anyway, I’ve looked on Facebook and Classmates.com through the schools in that area that he might have gone to, but nothing.
Just wondering if anyone has yearbooks from surrounding schools in those areas.
It’s like a needle in a haystack and I know my chances are slim, but I can try at least.

A really touching story.
When I was 13 I met a 12 year old girl one summer but ut slowed down and stopped.
I always wonder... what if
@BridgeOvertroubledWaters it’s amazing that you remember this. I thought only women remember things like this. I’m not going to give up looking for him.
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 I know, we were barely teens and believe me I spent many nights fantasizing about her in the decades to come

Maybe see if you can find someone from that church group that my know him or if they have any church group pics you could look at.

How did you get home after they kicked you out?

Kings Island was the sh*t !! Used to have season passes.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 you subconsciously ditched her to ride the coasters, admit it. LOL...J/K. ...I would have though.
@goodlil666 Not exactly. Joe and I were walking along and talking. I heard someone yell for him…we turned around and I asked Joe what the guy was saying. He said,”Don’t worry about it.” We kept walking and then I told him we needed to go back. We went back and they weren’t there.
We met back up at the Eiffel Tower for cake and she wouldn’t speak to me. I told her what happened and she wouldn’t listen to me. It made me angry and I told Joe,”Let’s just go.” She chose to ignore me and didn’t want to hear what happened.
I had way more fun. We rode rides, played games, ate pizza, he bought me several things. It was like we were on the best date ever.

It's strange how such a single event can stay in our memories for a lifetime. I don't know what to suggest about how to trace Joe though.
@ArtieKat I know. 36 years and I still think of that day.

Maybe post this on Reddit. Things can go viral there

If you know his last name you can try a google search and see what that comes up with. Also, can you contact any school mates from that time? Maybe they could help,
@Ontheroad I don’t know his last name.
I don’t know of anyone to contact that knew him. I only spent one day with him. I don’t think he ever told me his last name. We were kids, we were there to ride rides and I just remember how fun he was and how comfortable I was with him. He wrote his full name onto a piece of paper and I lost it. I’m sure his last name started with an S.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 How about taking a trip to Georgetown - stay for a few days and visit every single church, the community center, etc., and see if you can turn up any leads?
@Ontheroad I wish I could, but I live overseas now.

Have you thought about looking on Facebook? Groups that might be local.

The church
The town
Often there’s groups not just schools 🏫

I truly hope you find him, it will make an awesome story.
Good 🍀
Thanks for best commentsl
Well you sure have narrowed it down. You want to find someone from 36 years ago whose last name you don't remember. And who has the extremely odd first name of Joe. I bet the responses to finding this guy should just come rolling in.
@anythingoes477 well it’s like a needle in a haystack, but if I can find people that went to schools in those two areas… people will have yearbooks. If I could just look through yearbooks online…I’d find him, but I can’t access all of the yearbooks. 🤷‍♀️
So I’ll ask people in groups on Facebook.
Nothing is impossible. 😂
@Fairydust The church I met him at was First Church Of God in Georgetown.
