Beware the Banshee

In the dead of night
I heard the sound
It rose and deafened
Terrified even my hound
Twas a banshee
This I was told
By someone much wiser
A shaman who was old
She appeared suddenly
All long dress-ed, silver
Of hair and striking as well
The sound not familiar
She portends death
Of someone I hold dear
I shivered and shook
It was hard to not fear
By end of night
I received the note
My dear father died
When he fell off the boat
This caused me such despair
And my heart filled with grief
His body was plucked from
Tropical waters round the reef
Never to see him again
Never to be hugged closely
All is changed forever
The Banshee is quite ghostly.
