How do or should I handle kind, friendly, but toxic friend?

A old friend walked back into my life. They are super nice, kind, friendly, sweet, but are kind of toxic. If you don't know a toxic person is someone that brings you down or uses you. This person means no harm though, like a child not knowing what they are doing is wrong. That's why I need advice on this friend.
