Is it easier to make friends in college?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not in a shortage of friends, but so many high schoolers are assholey and superficial. Are college students any better? Even slightly?

Yes. College students are the ones who read books and studied. The high school A-word people are going to work at Walmart and fast food joints. Or they're trying to pull themselves together by joining the military and contributing something for a change. College is where you will find the more intellectual types.
Since everyone's new among freshmen, it's easy to make friends. Talk to people in your classes, maybe arrange study sessions with them.
I think you will find that kids who studied and are now on a quest for higher education, and who have now left home and are living as young adults...will, in general, but much more mature.
