Remind me, how does an adult make new friends in real life?

I've thought about approaching people like when I go on my outings solo but I'm sure people will think it's weird because, in this day and age, it's all about 'online'.

People would rather meet a stranger online than talk to another human who is also at the coffee shop, park, skating rink etc.

You know, I'm gonna try it one day soon and see how it goes.

Go to club type settings Gyms, church (if that's ur thing) Maybe take some recreational classes of some sort. When i say club I mean settings where people have familiar ideology.

The first time I made friends I went to the club alone and some nice people adopted me and I made a whole squad of friends. It was scary though and I had to get out of my comfort zone.

@DeluxedEdition I joined a gym in February. Since you mentioned gym, the last tiem I was there (last week), I was on the exercise bike. I heard 2 females talking loudly who had just came in. Quite naturally, I looked their way as they were about to pass me and I hear one say to the other " what is she looking at"? I wasn't attempting to say anything to them, just looked briefly in the direction of all the noise. Oh well, she needed to be in the gym alot more than I do.

I have joined an exercise class that meets once a week. No friends made there. I will venture out to another location as they have classes on different days and times.

I have joined my current chuch at the end of 2021.
I also joined a group. The group meets once a week via zoom. I have met these people ONE time in real life.

I've tried bumble, created my own meetup. c o m groups (covid took away my progress).

Everything I try seems futile.
