She might have to grow it up, give her time. And some people can't take that approach since they are insecure it affects them in a way to make them believe they actually are ugly and such... My girlfriend was like that as well and when I noticed she cannot handle that I quitted making fun of her or mocking her.

How she sees herself ? Euhm... She's a bit self conscious, and maybe lacks a bit of confidence. But well... We're 16/17 years old, so who doesn't ?

Fairplay ! I just wondered if she seeks out her friend for re-assuring noises when she doesn't feel so confident in her choices.
