Are you in the Inland Empire?

That's the desert area east of Los Angeles, California and West of Palm Springs, South of the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains and North of the Imperial County/San Diego area.

I am new here and alone. I need to make a new friend or two.

Go up to Wrightwood when they have a festival or something, there are a lot of great people there, including my grandparents.

I have heart good things about Wrightwood. Would like to take a trip there. I am in Upland. Doesn't it snow there? I associate it with skiing. What's a good festival?

Yeah, it gets snow up there in the mountains. I'm not sure of all the festivals, they just seem to happen to have them whenever I'm up there visiting! Doesn't look like their website is up to date, last things they list are from 2014, haha.

@KeasbeyNights: Thanks. If I can get up there, I will. But my plans were to drive around a bit and travel in November when I'd need snow chains to get up there. So I might have to postpone Wightwood until spring.
