That is how they do, two sets of friends, ones he gets messed up with and you all, he won't be able to stop drinking if he wanted to hanging out with his drinking friends, the point is that he could want to stop one day and he will need good friends to support him. I had only my sister left when I was on the road to recovery. No friends to speak of because of the drinking, those good ole boys sure wasn't around. No booze no friends there. It takes tough love and knowing that for a while he will lie to get what he wants, sneak around and fall of the wagon but if he gets up and doesn't give up he can do it and become more then he is now

@Guitarist07 yes it is but he probably wouldn't believe it if you said he was like a different person. I haven't had a drop to drink in around 10 yrs or so, I still think about but after that first few weeks without any, I say I grew stronger and the more time that passed the easier it got. Drinking is his number one priority right now. Be strong enough to do what needs to be done. You won't be happy living with a alcoholic
