So hard to say. Sometimes the loss and pain does not go away. You just learn to function better with it and it stops dominating your mind.
Sorry, not an answer you are seeking, but the sun is still going to rise, your painful loss will still... the day is going to be what you make, and having a good day is not an insult to the memory of your loved one.
A day, or even a night that it doesn't invade your thoughts does not mean you started to "forget" them.
It is just living.
