Do you have that friend who makes everything political?

I have this friend we have similar interests except in one thing. He's a big supporter of Indian prime minister and a Muslim hater while I'm neither of those. I think he doesn't like Christians too but he's not open about it because my parents are Christians. He keeps praising the PM while I kept quiet because I don't want to lose a friend over a stupid politician. He kept sending political memes and highly cringey photos of PM (I think he's in love with him). I ignore those just because I want to keep the friendship

This happens all the time to us fellow Indians who are not *bhakts*.
I have a friend circle which is extremely anti-muslim and pro government and I have had one horrible experience with them.
I am a Maharashtrian and we speak Marathi, Marathi people have misconception that all Muslims are Hindi and urdu speaking.
I was out with a Muslim friend and she is Marathi, there was also this other friend of mine who started bitching and joking about her to me in Marathi, regarding her religion because he thought she would not understand it I wasn't even able to stop him.
That thing ended in a big fight...
I hate bjp u know, the world around us has changed like totally, suddenly it feels like everyone has become communal and castiest ( since 2014 )

@Authoritarian OMG. I had similar incident. I am part south Indian (my mom's Malayalee) and I happen to stay in Bangalore and made friends with both south Indians and north indians. I was proud to learn a hard language like Malayalam in just few time and I was excited to converse with my fellow Malayalee friends but the north Indian friends stopped me and told me that as an Indian, I should talk to Indians in Hindi because Malayalam isn't the national language and a fight followed between Malayalees and North Indians.

There was this chapter called 'Unity in Diversity' I think we all had this in school time, Social studies subject.
Nowadays, our countrymen should be retaught such lessons about love and unity. Everyone is going nuts day by day and they'll ignore you if you don't have any strong political views like you gotta have one and you can't be on a neutral gear.

@Authoritarian I was educated in Vietnam. But I know what you are talking about. Justice and humanity seem to die each day
