No... you don't know me

I'm sorry but I can't trust people very easily at work or school. 1 year of me being around someone doesn't break the ice for me. Especially sense it's really only a couple hundreds of hours a year at work where over half the time I'm too focused on my responsibilities to chit-chat. I refuse to join in on conversations that get cut short or interrupted by "HEY QUIT STANDING AROUND AND GET BUSY!" at work or "THIS ISN'T SOCIAL HOUR...ITS WORLD HISTORY CLASS!". Its so frustrating trying to hold a conversation over those interruptions. Its like a cockblocker for conversations so I just don't try anymore. Plus I'm always at work anyway because I have to pay rent on my own, car payments, etc. I really don't have much free time so why should I invest time and energy into befriending someone at work? I'm sorry that I can't friend you but that doesn't mean you have to see me as your enemy. Like why do they keep looking for my approval and then ridicule me when I don't?

I guess it depends a lot on the type of work you do.
