College life is short, I would not waste their time and yours on activities that you really aren't interested in. Right now if you quit your mentee is bummed, but maybe gets a new one next year. If you quit after a semester with her, don't you think she will think its somewhat her fault, even if it isn't?

Quit now, otherwise you will end up letting them down even more. Regardless no one will like the idea of you quitting, but it's best you do it now instead of stalling. Move on with your life and do what you want, life is so short anyways, why waste time on something you don't like. Quit now so they can find someone else.

Talk to other people in organisation and convince your friend that it's not for you. It'll be helpful if you already have something you can tell them you want to do in your life and work towards that or join whatever. A heads up is better. And then quit and even if you quit at the end of semester they will be aware of that.

If you are paying to be part of this fraternity... then the choice is completely yours. Maybe instead of just quitting - take some steps back... if you can? Maybe just being a mentor and cutting out the things you hate about the organization.

Obligation is important. I'd say that fulfilling that obligation is important.
