Why am I always feeling left out?

I have a few friends and honestly sometimes I feel like that they could do so much better than me. Last week during pe class I felt so left out, they were all talking amongst themselves and I was feeling awkward and alone. I just feel isolated from them sometimes not all the time so it's just confusing and frustrating for me.
