Friends

So I just recently moved to Illinois and I'm realizing it is so much harder when you aren't in school to make friends. What would be a good way to meet new people without going to bars?

Perhaps on Sunday, if you are so inclined, you could find a nice church in your neighbourhood and meet similarly inclined people.

Join a church, do volunteer work, visit the library

the chamber of commerce will probably have a list of volunteer services that need help. That way, you get to do what you enjoy, help some people out, and meet people that share your interest.

dangerous or risky activities help people bond in groups. You need not got sky diving though and you could. Anything a bit risky or just demanding - join a club or activity. Yes bars are terrible places!
