That friend I'm always yammering about, who lived with me for a year, messaged me yesterday.

Apparently her workplace told her they're letting her go in a month. It has to do with disability accommodations, as she has ADHD. I forget all the details. She's consulting with a lawyer about it, hope there's something she can do. They really suck for a lot of reasons. They time bathroom breaks, they time customer interactions down to the second. They seem really stupid.

I don't know how she will find another way to survive. It sucks. I called her last night and she just feels kind of defeated. No retirement savings, not nearly enough emergency savings, no family she can lean on. It all drained away last time she was unemployed. I have a few hundred bucks in an emergency aid fund for other people, but it's not going to be enough to keep her afloat. I feel terrible, I just want her to be okay.

Would the accommodations requested cost them much? Did she put it in writing?

@MellyMel22 Right now, her accommodations amount to just working from home. If anything, it's saving money.

I don't 100% understand the situation tbh. She mentioned that they're pissed that she's taking too long to resolve customer complaints. ADHD makes it harder because they have her constantly switching tasks. A lawyer will tell her whether she has a case.

@BlueVeins I see. I had a case against condo management and they were almost fined around $250,000 and I didn’t sue them personally, lucky for them. I’m pretty sure that’s taken very seriously in all forms. I know that they say it’s very important to keep record of it all.

Good luck to her..
