Friendship gone sour

Sometimes you have to give up on a friendship, if the one who thought would be your friend said or did something unforgivable.
I had to end such a friendship two years ago and it still hurts. We've been friends for 14 years and I still can't wrap my head around why he hurt me with words on purpose. Trying to clarify things made it even worse.
I wish, I could just forget about all the years he treated me like a friend, not a foe.

It’s never easy when you have been friends for so long.
It takes time to heal.

Life is hard and everyone makes mistakes.

Often times people in a bad spot end up lashing out on the people they care about.

All of us humans are so weird.

Sorry for the loss of friendship.
Those things are hard to get past the closer you’ve become to someone.

I have no idea what he did ,but it is not acceptable to call people names or make them feel bad about themselves.
If this was a one time event and you think you might be able to forgive him, that is totally up to you ,then you might be able to reconcile the relationship with the understanding that you will not take that kind of behavior from anyone.
However ,since you said you already tried to explain and it didn't go well even though it's hard you might be better off.
