Sometimes the best thing to do is actually get off the phone and meet people in person .

Girl, I'm the same. To the t.
I just care a little less now.
But I do still care.
I wish I had the answers for you. But I don't. I don't understand people. And I probably don't understand myself enough to understand why this happens or what I'm doing wrong.
Maybe we'll never have the answers.
HOWEVER, the lesson to learn in all this is:
Self love.
It has become so much easier to stop overthinking about how people treat me since I started spending more time with myself and doing things I like. Because the more you do, the less time you have to think about other people.
Try that.

People are flaky these days, you just gotta ask more and more people until one of them shows up for it.
If you're asking people about academic stuff all the time, it can feel a little too intense. Small talk exists for a reason, even if it feels cumbersome sometimes. I struggle with this too to some extent, you just have to be patient and keep at it. Also therapy can potentially help if you can afford it.

if someone asked me what I do for fun instead I'd have a whole lot more to offer. Academics it's like Algebra 2 sighing. But if you really want to connect with people you probably wanna connect it to entertainment. but that's just my two cents, you know. not looking to control you or anything. I just know I'd have a whole lot more to say than oh I'm a stressed student but at least I'm improving at the subject.
Can you join a club?

No friends are better than bad friends, and the world is teeming over with would be bad friends ..bad relatives are lurking everywhere too

You need to find your own worth and approval without them eh
Softandsweet2 · 36-40, F
Don’t just complain that you have no friends. If you want to make friends, be a friend. Help someone out when they need help. If you see something wrong, try to make it right. Be there for them and they’ll be there for you.

First, unless it's with other nerds - stop using academics as a conversation starter. Most usual people don't think that's an appropriate topic at all, never mind as a conversation starter. Start with series or music or games if you play. Go from there. Just relax. Don't try too hard. People don't like anyone who needs anything. Don't come across needy.

The thing about that is instead of trying to extract something from people you should do for people instead. Expect nothing in return ever.
The pain you feel can be a good friend. The reason for that is it can make you strong. I've been where you are in a way. An abused kid kept isolated in shacks and old trailers along the road. Nobody wanted anything to do with a thing like me. I can't say I blame them. Coming from that I was never going to be right. I just kept to myself I read books I thought constantly about life as I wondered in the wilds. I adapted. If I had fell into despair who knows. I might have given up. Maybe turned into some junkie loser and went to prison like a lot of people. It's OK if you don't have friends or a boyfriend or any of that stuff. Lifev is exciting and full of all kinds of pleasures. Some people are not like others. There have always been monks and shamans. People like that aren't intended to be part of the crowd. Believe you me. Starting out where you are and from what I'm seeing here who knows, your life could be a hell of a ride.

Don't think down about yourself, it's just a phase and trust me it will pass
IndiPrya · 26-30, F
Why do you feel worthless because some girl ghosted you?
Do not think like that - you are special and you have your own identity.. do not wait for other people's approval in your beautiful life.

Are you autistic? Those situations sound familiar, before analyzing social patterns and learning to be a chameleon when needed within only telling the truth
