If your memory serves you well We're going to meet again and wait So I'm going to unpack all my things And sit before it gets too late No man alive will come to you With another tale to tell And you know that we shall meet again If your memory serves you well.....................
@DancingStarGoddess He was as good of a friend as any of my R/L friends are or were. He had a way about him that made you feel comfortable in his presence on line or on the phone. Strange to feel the loss like he lived next door and realize I never actually saw his face. Some people can just command respect with the softest of tones.
@Dainbramadge I understand. We spoke for a while some months back. I just tend to be quite covert about my conversations with people here and no one ever really knows they happened but me and the other party. I could almost swear I saw their name fairly recently but I think it was as you said, some weeks ago. I'm off and on here a lot
@DDonde People come and go here so often and most times we never know what ever became of them.
Unfortunately we know what happened with Chris.
It's a unique situation for the people of this sight.
This has given so many people the opportunity to say their farewells and to reflect on how special some connections are with some people even if it is anonymous.
Thank you for paying your respects to a man who meant a lot to a great many of us.
@JimboSaturn Our mutual friend said they knew of a few people that should be notified and I figured I would just go ahead and make an official post about him. I'm glad I did because I had no idea he had touched this many people.
I know what he meant to me and I am glad this many other people had the privalage of his company.
@OogieBoogie AdaXI actually brought up him not being on in three weeks and was worried. Stupid me had just messaged him three days ago oblivious to his absence.
So, since we had talked on the phone I knew his town and already new what stae so I looked him up and found it.
I didn't think Chris would mind at this point everyone knowing his real name and what not. I posted the link because people could leave messages for the family. I left one with a link to this post so his family could see what an impact he had here.
He and I were chatting in PM here one day a few years back and it turned out he wasn't very comfortable writing and he told me to call him and gave me his number.
I wrote back and told him I didn't do that with people I knew from here, with it being anonymous and all. He just wrote back and told me not to be such a sissy and to call him. LOL I am glad I did. Our conversations were normally 3 or 4 hours long. I don't think I have ever talked on the phone that long to anyone.
He was full of wisdom and had an amazing way of captivating me no matter if he was sharing an amazing story from his life or commenting on some hairbrained thing I had done.
I guess it's normal to have regrets when someone like him passes but I truly wish I had called rather than make that last message.
@Magenta I knew I wasn't the only person who he had touched deeply.
That is why I posted his obituary without concealing his real name and location.
There is a place at the bottom to leave a message for his family and I am going to leave one and I thought it would be nice if anyone wanted to share their experience with the family it would be nice.
@hunkalove I knew he was important to me but now I see he blessed way more people with his charm than just I.
I am glad to see how many people got to know him as a blessed entity here.
I have been going through my past message history with him looking for how he enticed me into calling him. Normally I wouldn't call anyone from here and in all my time on EP and here he is only the second person I have made contact with via phone or any way really outside of S.M it's self.
He and I had some intriguing conversations in PM and those couldn't hold a candle to the hours we spent on the phone together. He was wise and fun but so gentile with his observations and opinions on some very sensitive issues I have dealt with while being his friend.
In my mind, I think of him as my wise old crazy neighbor that is always around when you need someone to talk to and to think the closest we ever were was a late night phone call.
RIP π man, that's a sad loss. He hearted one of my posts about 3 weeks ago too. They were songs, I remember thinking that was cool of him. We've barely interacted but he seemed like a good dude
@Dainbramadge I know we've talked at times in passing. He always seemed thoughtful & helpful. Makes me wish I knew him more. I guess in general we should talk to people more & get to know them because we never know. There's lots that deserve to be known
@ChiefJustWalks He is one of two people since way back on EP that I actually had a relationship off SW. He was a cool guy with a great sense of humor. More than one person has mentioned they had no idea how old he was. He had a kind of timeless personality.
You should go to his profile and read some of the things he posted like about his brother. That story was touching and really showed what a wise and thoughtful person he was.
This whole situation makes me wonder who else I am taking for grantid.
@Dainbramadge He was a Green Beret in Viet Nam. His weapon of choice was a Katana. He was also a pilot and ended up owning a P38. He was a mechanic in civilian life and after his discharge he sold his garage and bought a license to grow Marijuana for dispensaries in California. Of course he tested is products personally, but he made a small fortune doing that. I remember he took his ex wife back in because she was homeless and dying of cancer, then he got cancer and passed himself. He was a nice man (to me anyway) and I admired his service. My adoptive father was a Marine. The Admin booted him off here after a lawsuit he filed against them. So I lost contact and only heard of his demise later from members he stayed in contact with.
@TexChik Rooster passed also?? Aaww. Sorry to know that. π I signed up on a forum he invited me to when he got booted here, but I didn't stay or become active.
@MsSwan From his posts he made here and the things he and I talked about in the wee hours of the mornings made me feel he was a wonderfully wise man with a great sense of humor and outlook on life. But I can't help but feel he was so much more than even that.
@Dainbramadge I am also an EP refugee and was wondering if he was there also, I thought I remembered him being there. I remember you from way back then also, we spoke sometimes. Thank you for this tribute
@InterdimensionalSideEye I am amazed at times at how many of us did transfer to this place but am even more surprised at how many didn't. EP was a thriving hive of excitement for more than a few yet the active user numbers between the two sights are greatly varied.
Booker was friends with a woman who I too was friends with Skatingmomma. When we moved here skatingmomma didn't continue on with us. Booker later reached out to me to see if I had maintained contact with her and he and I started hanging out.
I told her today of his passing and even though they didn't have any further contact since EP she was crushed.
It's amazing the impact some people can have on us.
Iβm so deeply sorry to hear about this.We may have only known each other as acquaintances, but he was always kind and gracious to me. He will surely be missed.
@CookieCrumbs He had a powerful personality that seems to have been very personal with everyone he touched. I know I was attracted to his straightforwardness because it would be direct and not sugar coated but with warmth and compassion. He told me he was amazed of the things I had done in my life while just "Bumbling through it." LOL.
His wisdom was through a life truly lived and appriciated. He would share stories in such depth that you felt like you were there with him while he lived them. He wrote a few posts here about his father and brother that are still amazing to reread.
He was indeed a true treasure to have been found by, being as he sought me out from interactions with a person from the EP days.
@Dainbramadge The people we meet online can have an impact on our lives if we let it happen.
There is the shared interests and experiences part of the friendship, and there is also the willingness to let someone in our protective bubble of emotions.
When we allow both to be nurtured in our online interactions, we can build connections as deep and as real (or even more (as our offline friendships).
Iβm deeply sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how I would feel if I lose the people I regularly interact with here and talk to on the phone. Despite distance, those friendships that we are able to sustain through the years have seen us grow as a human being.
In your times of grief, just remember how you have made Bookerβs life happier and meaningful by the friendship you shared. Hugs to you.
Thank you for posting, I was very worried, now I'm sad to hear this. We DMd practically every day, but didnβt bother sharing RL contact...we just didnβt....he had definite struggles and used humor and music to get through them. I hope he's at peace.
@Dainbramadge Same, he brought up Tower Records a lot and liked vinyl, being really into audio and used to ask me technical questions... I'd follow up asking him how his Woofers and Tweeters were doing...I'm really glad he lived a full life. I felt like he had some sort of mobility problem, but he wouldn't go into that with me...but I did ask him about his UN and he told me he intended to be BookemDano - but after the typo it just sort of stuck...
@Dainbramadge That's funny - he made similar life related comments to me - which was surprising to me how perceptive he could be from a relatively small amount of info...and same - he was good natured about it - so I didn't feel insulted - man, I can't believe it...
I think a deceased section on here could be created for us to add our memories and remember them. There has been a lot of good people pass away in the last few years.
@meggie That's what I have been saying since this happened. People disappear from here all the time and most of the time we never really know what happened.
That's sad news. My condolences to all his friends on here. I don't know if it's a good idea to share all those details about his name, life and family on here though. As far as I know he didn't post about that himself, so maybe he wouldn't want that to get out here. You probably know him a lot better than I do though.
@OogieBoogie Sorry Oggie. When I mentioned him I was thinking you had already seen this post. Kind of a crappy way to find out. My bad. This just raced so fast I was having trouble keeping up with it and overlooked telling you.
