I remember the day I moved away from my psychologically difficult mother, my best friend of 9 years didnt show up for the move. A few days later he called and wanted to see my new place. I showed him around only for him to start the most toxic and backwards tirade of blaming me and judging me, trying to gaslight me and so on.
Never heard from him again after that. Been three years, but its for the best. Sometimes people never learned how to communicate their feelings, but its quite shocking to learn that after nearly ten years as friends.

Regrettably. I knew him since we were in grade school; sweated, wept, and bled for him, and called him- and thought of him as- a brother. But when avoiding unpopular arguments and going with the flow became more important than saving innocent lives, he faltered- and then became furious at those who hadn't.

It can happen. And it always does.
Time allows us to get to know people better.
And some friendships have a best before date.

Sometimes its better to let go rather than continuing and hope things will change

I have been there quite a couple of times. It never gets easier. Sometimes it was my fault and other times it was their fault.

Yes, I tried to keep it going to support him, he was going through a terrible time, but in the end he lied and lied and lied some more. So that was that. I wish him well for the future but I’m done being gaslit, I tried for 12 years. Hope he finds peace.

Anyone with mood swings that bad would be out of my circle. Not worth raising my cortisol over someone so unpredictable.

That's happened with me several times. Or, for some reason, they've left me.

People who have been best friends for years, have stopped communicating with me and won't tell me why.

I just have to move on.
