Don't know if you remember but couple of days back, I wrote about a couple of yearlong friends that are growing distant...

Specifically I wrote about a guy we had a video call conversation and when I brought it up how we're growing apart, he didn't hold me, he said, "we contact another when we need something from them"... I had a very similar experience with another...

Perhaps you could put it this way: the fact that the loss hurts means that at least for a time you had something. The only way to avoid the bitterness of loss is to never have anything to lose and that would surely be a dull life.

@ninalanyon you are right Nina, thanks for pointing that out... But part of the bitterness is that I feel I was never a real friend to them, but rather a transitioning theme, a strange person that is somewhat good enough to keep around for the insights but not good enough to keep.
I don't truly believe that, but a part of me, a small part does.
It's okay..
