The strangest thing just happened…

One of my oldest friends just texted out of the blue after no contact between us for over 6 months. No specifics as to why we hadn’t been communicating.
And after showing me her wrist surgery scars and talking about various things from mountain biking to updates on family etc. She very casually says that she’s dating someone. I was shocked because she is a very married mother of one child who is 12/13. When I just texted back “Dating?!?!” Her response was a very vague “Oh yes things have been interesting around here lately” and I then asked if “everything was ok?” She replied that she was going to pick up her daughter and her bfs son from school and that she would need a phone call to explain everything and I said she could call me anytime she wants.

This exchange occurred last Friday and I have not heard back from her.
I’m not sure if I should text her or call her. I don’t want to pry but I do want to be supportive and of course I’m also curious too. A divorce would be highly out of character for her I would have thought.

Why is she calling you suddenly.. is she dating your ex or something? 😳 or is it like a cry for help after slashing her wrists? 😳

@YoMomma She said that she was very bored and just wanted to show me how her wrist surgery went after she had a fall while mountain biking.
It’s not a cry for help but I get the feeling that she has not told many people about whatever happened in her marriage and the fact that she’s already found someone to date. I really don’t know what to think because this seems so out of character. I don’t know her husband all that well. He might’ve been cheating on her and she just decided she was done and that she was ready for a relationship with someone else.
I’m mostly shocked because I would have never thought this possible. She’s the type that would have stayed married until her daughter was out of the house or something. Idk what to think?!

@YoMomma I’m not hesitant usually. I love the phone but I know that she often used to text me while she was doing other stuff at the same time. We typically talk on the phone when she is driving. I am the one who has a wide open schedule so I tend to let my friends pick and choose when it’s best for them to talk by phone.
