I feel bad

I had 2 friends over at my apartment, one of them was waiting to take the bus home, where he was gonna be picked up by a friend to go do some construction job. The bus system here is pretty shitty and unreliable, and the bus system app was glitching and showing at first that a bus was gonna show up even though it wasn’t. He lives about 15 minutes away by car, and has to be home in like an hour. Once he realized that the bus wasn’t actually gonna come (and no other buses were gonna be there for the next hour or so), he gathered up his stuff so that he could run home. And I mean literally run, he has to run at least 1/4 as fast as a car to make it home on time. If I weren’t so tired (and a bit high tbh) I’d have said wait, let me take you home in my car. Honestly, thinking about it, I could have just let him drive my car and then chilled in my car until my high wore off, maybe taken a cat nap, and then driven back to my apartment. He does live on the sketchier side of town, but it probably would have been fine. But I didn’t realize he was packing up to literally run home until he was just about to leave, so I didn’t have much time to think of alternatives before he bolted out the door and down the street. Our other friend that’s here had fallen asleep, I suppose we could have woken him up and asked if he could give him a ride. My friend’s friend who was picking him up lives in the same neighborhood as him and the job they’re going to is in the opposite direction as my apartment, but I feel like if he had asked him, his friend would have been willing to drive to my apartment to pick him up instead of picking him up at his house. But my friend is the type of guy to run 2.7 miles home rather than inconvenience someone else.

Idk I feel bad that I wasn’t like wait let’s go in my car and I’ll figure out getting back… he’s very athletic but running almost 3 miles in only an hour just seems brutal. He’s a tough cookie, if anyone can do it it’s him, but still.
