I loved my best friend

From friends to lovers,
Then entangled between the sheets,

How can I go from lovers to friends,
When I cannot get the taste of you off my lips.

I felt seen, heard,
You made me feel like me again.

Deep secrets shared, no embarrassment or regrets.
How did it come to this?

No judgements from either end,
How am I going to move on from this.

Broken hearted, memories made,
From friends to lovers to now a distant memory.

Once our romantic dimension has ceased to be an option, I would gladly keep our friendship forever. Their friendship is precious and far preferable to losing them from my life entirely, losing them completely is a million times more tragic than losing the aspect of being lovers, even if the romantic phase was the most sublimely magic thing you've ever known, it doesn't change one bi the fact that a complete loss is awful and unnecessary. Manifesting and nurturing a connection does not have to completely resemble the way both of you formerly imagined it for it to still be a treasure, there is no right or wrong way to preserve that connection. What is wrong is just easily throwing it away over issues that are not grave.
