Id say more often then not I connect well to people, but the issue is it's rarely reciprocated.
I'd say 90% of people wouldn't reach out or care unless my absence effected them.....
Be if gifts, advice, care whatever.....not that it's hate just indifference.
Brind bread to ducks at a park they follow, stop bringing it and they stop going by you.
Ideally find other people who feed ducks....odd metaphor but I think it conveys the message
