Sure. I still do that often when the call is important, because I do not wish to answer my cell phone when driving...or in public places.

@Metalbarbie They were. Like a hospital calling to schedule a test or waiting to hear back about a job. There was no cellphones or answering machines. You were either there to take the call or you missed it or wondering if they even called.
