Can anyone suggest good content for a carre package for my friend in hospital.

My dearest friend is extremely unwell and in hospital. Things are not as bad as they initially seemed though, it's still serious, but there is every chance she will make a full recovery.

As her friend, I should know what to get her, except the nature of her condition has neurologically degraded her (hopefully temporarily) and she seems rather out it. All her observations seem tangential and infantile so if I bring her hobbies and craft things, she might not appreciate it.

Usually she likes reading about the Royal family so I was planning to spend a fortune on Royal Family magazines and books untill the doctor said she mustn't get too emotionally upset so I better not do that in case Harry's silly Canadian actress wife has done something that triggers some kind of relapse.

Her husband is passed on and her two children live over seas. There will be some people coming to see her but I think there will be periods when she is on her own and I would like to think that she was furnished with enough to occupy her mentally because this will facilitate a swift recovery.

However if someone's cognitive abilities have been significantly reduced, what should a visitor get them?

(Oh because of an entirely unrelated medical condition, I'm not allowed to get her booze or food).
If she likes puzzles, maybe a magazine with word finds or crossword puzzles.
Any gift you can think of will I think help. You know her better than anyone on here, but try to look for something positive, lifting, and creative if she is creative. Anything that reminds her you were thinking of her should suffice in giving meaning you care

Comfort Items are a great idea. Soft blankets that are not Fleece, really good crisps or cookies for/w coffee or tea. (Tea is a great gift idea too)

It'll sound silly, but my wife likes impulse devices like squeeze balls and such....might want to throw one in....You're very kind.

I can’t stand markle but she’s not Canadian. I would get bath items. The stuff the hospital gave me was cheap and irritating

A journal or sketchbook if she likes to draw or write, and some fun pen and pencil sets
@Luckylu Good suggestion

You are indeed a good friend .
You can get adult coloring in books ....they are really beautiful . You will need to also buy some quality colouring pens .

The mandala ones are most simplistic and easy to do .

Often found under 'mindfulness' hobbies , 'adult coloring ' etc.

They can be picked up, put down, start where you finished off....stress free things to do to pass time.
They take up little space, and are self sufficient activities .

Hope your friend recovers .
