Would you stay in touch with such a person?

Was supposed to meet a guy friend for drinks but he cancelled plans because a lady wanted to hook up with him. He's the one who suggested we could meet up for drinks so I messaged him a place we could meet and then he cancels.

Why would he tell you his reason for cancellation? I’d still cancel with you for this reason, but I’d say something like “My dog is unwell” or “I have a pest control issue” and hook up with the woman, then meet you and hook up with you later
