He wants me to buy him a silver chain that’s $500 for his birthday wtf. He said that in return he’ll get me something expensive as well since my birthday is like 2 days after his.

That doesn't seem that insane. I got an expensive watch for Christmas last year and I was so happy. Unfortunately it didn't fit so I had to throw it away, but it's such a nice gesture
