Is there a place for this type of thing in modern society?

Two people meet, they may like each other platonically but one of them decides to maintain the friendship in the hope that the other can develop deeper feelings, by them winning you over with their charming personality.

I been told by 3 different women that I'm every woman's dream, except not many women are my dreams. I won't date unless she's perfect for me. The down side to this, is their feelings when I had no interest after them remaining friends with me. I haven't dated in 17 years.

@Beebo So, really, you have chosen not to date. No one will find perfection on a date and that person will change in the relationship and continue to change in life. Perfection is not real.

@Beebo You said perfection, not me. If you had said drug or alcohol abusers, that would have been accurate. My comments still apply, people can develop such habits as they get older.
