I grew up with music from the 60's and 70's.😌To me it's the best of the best!🎵🎶🥰🎸
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@Peaches I agree with you completely.

@ClassicRocker they were gone to work so we had all Saturday to listen to what we wanted. I remember some parents back then not allowing their kids to listen to soft rock and roll music on the radio, but they did when we had a radio at school.
Fluffybull · F
@cherokeepatti I used to listen to a lot if late-night radio when I was a kid. Great introduction to music especially stuff I was to young to appreciate at the time. 🎼🎶📻🎷🎺🎸
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Fluffybull talk radio on local stations was interesting back in the late 60’s to 70’s. My aunt would leave her radio on all night and she was hearing a lot of things being discussed that the news didn’t touch.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I remember seeing Elvis on The Ed Sullivan Show. I was 6. But I was more influenced by Doo-Wop and R&B when I was 10 and got my first radio. My biggest influence was The Beatles and the Original British Invasion. I was 13. I learned guitar and played in bands. Still my favorite era.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@hunkalove I like some of them as well.
My teacher Leroy Dickerson in the early sixties, he might have been squashed by the political blacklist in my country

also what Jackson55 said... and the awesome girl groups[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzCDwGw6tdA&ab_channel=catman916]

I have no favorite genre
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@Elevatorpitches He sounds like he was a good teacher.
@ClassicRocker anyone asks I can tell the story
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
No one. I like all genres (mostly) and even obscure weird stuff. I'm willing to give almost anything a try.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@ravenwind43 Me as well with some exceptions. I have to understand the lyrics but I can listen to most beats.
Peaches · F
@ClassicRocker I listen to all kinds of music as well. ⭐

Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Alvin Lee, Elvis Presley, and a few others.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M

young childhood, my dad would listen to Waylon Jennings, Charlie Rich, Charlie Pride, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot…
Then one day he brought home a Bachman Turner Overdrive album and my genre taste expanded like crazy
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@SW-User The 70s has the best music 🎵🎶 in my opinion.
LadyJ · F
Listening to UB40 from an early age
Peaches · F
@Tres13 I'm not sure anymore? 🤔 Maybe "Red red wine"🎶😋🍷 They aren't a band I regularly listen to.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
No what CD of theirs do you have?@Peaches
Peaches · F
@Tres13 I'd have to go to my music room and hunt it down. What about the song "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", I think that one is from them.
SW-User
My tastes are eclectic.

That said, I love the rebellious spirit of the 80s and have such love for metal.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@SW-User I agree!
SW-User
@ClassicRocker I love all kinds from hair metal to thrash - but I stop at the more ridiculous end where the singers are having violent bouts of IBS during takes in the vocal booth... 🤘😁
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
I'm a metal head but that doesn't mean I only listen to songs that are purely rock.

I love a bit of everything.

I actually don't know how I got into this. My dad introduced us to the Beatles as a kid. Then Bryan Adams. My sister and I fell in love with Linkin park, Limp Bizkit and Bullet for my valentine when we were in our teens.

Things just evolved from there.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@Beatbox34 I am the same way. I typically like songs that tell a story and have a good beat. Sometimes they come from different genres other than rock as well. On the flip side, there may be only one song from an artist that I like, and I won't listen to anything else they offer.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@ClassicRocker Exactly.

Like just because an artist is popular, I won't go for it. I may/may not like all of their tracks.

It's a matter of the message conveyed. That's what draws me to the song more. It's the meaning. It's the emotion.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@Beatbox34 I couldn't have said it any better myself!
Synyster · 51-55, M
All hair metal and hairband goups.

80's Rock, hard rock and metal.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@Synyster Definitely!
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
So many influences, listening to the radio in 70s and 80s. I like anything from pop, rocknroll to doowop to instrumentals, classical to jazz and folk.

I mainly enjoy music created in the 40s -70s with an emphasis on the vocalists and singer/songwriters type stuff. I'm not into really hard rock, metal or rap.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@therighttothink50 I would say 70s music of most any type is what I like.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
Blues/Country the backbone of Rock music
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@Tres13 Absolutely.

luckranger71 · 51-55, M
Where I grew up. Got into rap and hip hop due to the type of high school I went to. Right now give me Motown era music more than anything but I can deal with anything except metal. I've even warmed to country as time has gone on.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@luckranger71 I love Motown as well.
MildlyInappropriate · 51-55, M
AM and FM radio of the early 70's - Steely Dan, incredible singer songwriters, well-crafted songs, good stuff!
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@MildlyInappropriate Steely Dan had some incredible music!
MildlyInappropriate · 51-55, M
Indeed! Smooth sounds, biting lyrics... @ClassicRocker
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@MildlyInappropriate I was listening to an account of one of the members of the Eagles saying that the inspiration for the lyric "stab then with their steely knives" from the song "Hotel California" was because they were friends with the band Steely Dan.
For me it’s always been what I heard and was enjoyable listening to, and that covere a wide range of music.
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
@soar2newhighs that's generally the way I am. I like many genres.
Nobody. I just likes what I likes 😜
ClassicRocker · 56-60, M

ClassicRocker · 56-60, M
