Why is it so hard to make friends as an adult?

People always advise "join a club/do voluntary work" etc. That may work for some people.

People have so much less time as an adult that everything feels rushed. There's little time for down to earth moments where you can forge genuine connections with people. Particularly the most wholesome ones where you hang out with a person one on one and get the purest measure of a person in the dynamic you share. I do definitely understand that feeling.
Maybe try and find some groups with similar passions to yourself and find people you like there? It may be easier to forge connections with common ground to work with.
If nothing else, there's always plenty of people on this site who are decent enough. Online friends are still real friends and there's nothing wrong with having them. If you need someone to talk to, I'm happy to listen and help however I can. 🙂

Because you're not trying hard enough.

The older you get, the more the people you meet will have met a partner so they'd rather spend time with them than look for people with whom to socialise 😢

Flexibility is not a cup of tea for all of us.

Besides, not all like to share with others after a certain age

Do stuff you enjoy, you'll find the people you want to hang out with then

I’ve tried making new friends that are new parents and I meet a lot of crazies.
