@SW-User Bureaucracy is the work you do to make sure rules are implemented and followed. Collectively deciding on and implementing rules is core to successful leaderless organizing.

If I want to organize a direct action at work, I need to document my workplace, determine my allies and enemies, map social relationships around the shop floor, and then plan and coordinate the actions. Not to mention all the extensive one-on-one conversations required in advance.

That's bureaucratic work. It's unsexy but it's effective. Grabbing a torch and yelling "KILL THE BOSS" is romantic, but organizing is as much bureaucratic as it is social.

now imagine that at a social level. You've got a leaderless community. how do you decide what's done? How do you settle disputes? What if someone goes rogue? Rules rules rules. You vote on the rules, the rules favour no leader... but again, more bureaucracy.
