Uncorked Alsace

Alsace wine history spans over 2,000 years, initiated by the Romans and flourished under medieval monastics. Known for Germanic influences and, since WWII, French production styles, the region is famed for aromatic whites, with the 1962 A.O.C. Alsace cementing its modern quality-focused reputation. In 58 BC the Romans invaded the region and they planted their own vines on the hills. The Ancient Roman wine from Alsace was so good that it brought actually severe competition to the Italians. It's also in Alsace that the oldest wine can be found, dating from 1472, as well as the oldest operating cask
