Minor pet peeve
I went to "Kroger Wine and Spirits" after work. (Imagine "Jewel" or "Piggly Wiggly" having a separate liquor store.
It is like a ......segmented alcohol portion of a grocery store here in the south.
As I stood in line, a person asked about a brand of wine I knew well, and love (from the old days when I tried to drink wine like a lady and not tequila like a...me).
I overheard her say "purple toad". Keep in mind I was at the register and she came up to my check out person and asked. Which was totally ok.
I chimed in, "Purple Toad is awesome". Not sure if it is a KY thing but it does not matter because that is how good it is.
The only wine I (used to) drink was called "Laurens blackberry". It is the kind of wine that you imagined when you were a kid. sweet and so much flavor.
BUT, my old coworker loved red wine. Purple toad offers a red wine called "black and bruised". My coworker insisted I try that one.
I tried it and it was dry. and while it was good, it was not sweet enough for me. Yet, the only red wine I have liked thus far.
THEN COMES TODAY.
I am in line, at Kroger Wine and Spirits.....and a lady asks the clerk...."what is the best red wine of the purple toad brand?"
The worker starts talking about how it is not that dry and is like "jam"? I chime in because I cannot fcking stand it and say, "we have different taste buds, it is a great medium of dry and sweet. Amazing pick".
My lady checks me out so fast without a word and as I leave I hear her tell the lady about other wines.
This might be a very small niche but 1) have you had "purple toad" brand? 2) what was your favorite?
I almost wish I was rich enough to buy her a bottle. That is how much I think she would have liked black and bruised.
ugh.
I hate being a peasant.
