Have you ever tried Romanian wine?

I bought my first ever bottle from Asda yesterday for £4, and it's so nice i went back to load up today.

Mom once told me that there was so much wine when she was a kid in Romania that it had to be dumped on the street. This was before WWII.

@DeWayfarer what a waste. I might google the wine history there. This wine was made by a British and Romanian company.

@Raine the whole region has an extensive wine history. Even Greece... Try some Ouzo (a kind of brandy) similar to Italian Grappa, yet flavored with anise.

BTW Wine has to be cured in barrels. And those kinds of barrels are expensive. So if you couldn't sell it before the next crop you were forced to dumped it! 🤷‍♂️

Anything made of wood was expensive back then. My father told me of wood searches for violins in czechoslovakia. You couldn't use just any kind of wood. Same goes for wine barrels.

@DeWayfarer yes it has to be aged wood. I read about guitar making in spain and how they store the wood for years before it's of use. I have tried Ouzo and didn't like it. I'm more of a gin drinker when I'm not drinking wine.
