Do vegans eat bread?

It probably has eggs and milk in it
Docdon23 · M
I am vegan and I get special bread--white flower is also not great for you, so i get sprouted bread with no egg or milk--delicious actually! It is in most stroes.

@Docdon23 I'm vegan, I like sourdough personally. There's tons of bread with no milk or eggs.
yeah normal bread doesnt have eggs or milk... you thinking cake
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Strawberrry It's weird how much supermarket bread is laced with eggs lol, the American food system is so weird.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@BlueVeins Oh I didn't know that lol but I usually either go for the frozen kind of bread which doesn't seem to have eggs or sourdough/rye depending. My local coop makes really great fluffy bread that I usually buy, solely from there. I guess I've never really thought of supermarket bread as real bread lol, I'll have to go see bread made with eggs, it just sounds weird to me 😆

Lol bread with eggs... that's funny.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
I've never come across eggs in the ingredients of any bread. With that said I'm vegan and eat bread all the time as most don't have eggs so it's easy to find for me.

I'm not a lawyer but I think legally, it has to say in the ingredients if it has milk or eggs because by law, if someone has allergies they could die.

That's a hefty sue for loved ones.

Ezekiel bread is vegan and perhaps other sprouted breads. I think sourdough is too

@WaryWitchWandering my husband doesn’t like it either. I don’t get it
Docdon23 · M
@Jenny1234 Yes! I eat Ezekial and Alvarado--delicious and healthy and vegan.
Docdon23 · M
@WaryWitchWandering yes most rye is vegan
BlueVeins · 22-25
Yeah, I jut check the label first. I've been tryna stick to whole wheat bread lately, which is better about it too.

I figure they do if they want to, since a lot of bread contains no animal products.
SW-User
Sure. There are so many different types of bread that contain neither.

I am not, but as of late I've been interested in vegan recipes actually. They tend to be creative. Maybe I'll become one some day. Who knows. @Adam77

@SW-User you're right , hopefully it turns out ok.
SW-User
Yup. Like when they use plant-based ingredients to replicate the taste & texture of meat. I’ve seen a recipe where they used chickpeas with wheat gluten to make mock “chicken”. Or ground mushrooms with nutritional yeast to create “meatballs” and the list goes on. @Adam77
Hopefully this cuts to the heart of the matter: yeasts are members of the fungus kingdom. Thus it's very very easy to make a bread recipe with no animal products.
MrsRachelEvans · 26-30, F
Mine does not but it does have yeast of course which is a living organism!

I looked it up… my favorite sandwiches ch bread/toast (rye bread)
SW-User
