Ridiculous. It's like saying, you shouldn't be Catholic because Hitler was.

@Notauser isn’t it the norm to dismiss anyone as a nazi if you do/say something the Nazis agreed with, if it is said by someone you dislike? My point exactly is his ridiculous it is.

@lynncelestial The difference is that Vegetarianism isn't coherent with Nazi worldview or dogma, it was an idiosyncratic fact about Hitler himself (in fact people often remark on it because it is so at odds with his general philosophy). Hatred of minorities or the weak and disabled on the other hand *is* derivative of Nazism's core organizational values. That's why your point here is a product of undisciplined thinking.

@Notauser what would you say about Hitler further undermining his intolerant core values by passing on control of the reich to two disabled party members - sets-inquart and goebbels. And his decision to keep several hundred thousands Jews who fought for Germany in ww2 in the workforce and also not persecute rohm for his homosexuality? In a time where we are told everyone is a potential Nazi, and where everything is as black and white as a toddler’s tv show, I am interested to see how people contend with less black and white details.

@lynncelestial I'd say you're changing the topic because you realized you'd hit a dead end. Nuance is important but false equivalence is a product of lazy thinking. Like someone who owns gigantic factory farms that cruelly torture pigs but has one as a pet that he loves... what does that negate? this person's systemic cruelty against pigs? Clearly not. There's nothing inherently connecting vegetarianism and Nazism as your OP suggests, so you're just wrong. I am not even sure what point you're trying to make anymore... like I said: undisciplined - you need to focus more and follow through.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
I know the point being made as I made the post with that that point in mind. But do go on telling me the point I was actually trying to make @Notauser my point was the one you just made. Things are not black and white yet people really do just go ‘you disagree so you are a nazi!’
Notauser · 36-40, M
@lynncelestial if you are trying to claim that your point reduces to such a banal truism it has no import. You could imagine Miss Universe saying that as a platitude for easy applause. At the same time however, it’s perpetuating false equivalences, and it functions as a cognitive grip for anyone who wants to make the lazy statement that vegeterianism is compatible with Nazi ideology. When you’re making statements it’s only responsible to realise both what their content is and what function they have. Fwiw, I think you *know* how this post is actually functioning, which makes you intellectually deceitful. Otherwise you should step up your thinking to the next level.

@Notauser Hitler wasn't vegetarian at all, she/he/it is trolling.
