I am about to punch someone 👊

I am sitting in starbcuks and a highly misogynistic and sexist man is sitting with an old woman, whom is convincing him to stay with his wife..

The man is shouting things like; THE BARE MINIMUM IS THAT SHE PREPARES MY BREAKFAST. SHOULD I THANK HER BECAUSE SHE PREPARED IT OR SOMETHING???

And; WHEN I SAY SOMETHING IT HAS TO BE DONE.

OMG I soooo want to tell the woman, pleeease auntie, why the phuk fo you want your daughter to keep such trash!!!! She's been married to him for 13 years, your daughter probably needs a psychiatrist by now.

You would think i make such stuff up, well I don't 🥔🤷‍♀️ These are the sort of men around here.

@BittersweetPotato Don't bother him with details. I pointed out that the Bible DOES say this:

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

He didn't like me.

There is a community of Somali refugees in my area. At times, the relationship between them and the surrounding community has been positive, and at times not.

One issue is male authority over women. So for example, Somali boys at a swimming pool might ignore what a female lifeguard tells them. Or a Somali high school boy who is friends with a Western girl might assume he has authority over the girl's mother when the father is away.

But it seems to me that these culture clashes are smoothing out over time. I am more concerned about persistent animosity towards Black Muslims from a small subset of the White Christian population here.

@DrWatson Really. Are they committing the crimes?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@SW-User Are who committing what crimes?
Oh, there are men like that here - probably everywhere. My ex-father-in-law claimed that the Bible said his wife was responsible to pick up and wash his socks.
@DrWatson Contrarian! 😂
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 Curious.. Did the bible also address a wife's duties with regards looking for socks that mysteriously dissappear in the washing machine ? 🥔🤔 Or wait, there were no washing machines during biblical times.
@BittersweetPotato They didn't even have socks!

The earliest known pair of socks, created by naalbinding. Dating from 300-500, these were excavated from Oxyrhynchus on the Nile in Egypt. The split toes were designed for use with sandals.

Without knowing any more than what you posted I would not pass judgement. I have no idea what the woman in question is like. Does he work hard every day while she sleeps to the crack of noon whereupon she takes up her throne to watch the daily soaps until he gets home to make her supper? We don't know.

@hippyjoe1955 ' How very misogynist of you.' - says the guy who likes to hit women.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@LegendofPeza Says the guy who hates humanity. Run along son. You have lost this discussion again.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 Pointing out your blatant hypocrisy is losing a discussion ?

lol , ok wife-beater
Ontheroad · M
I had to laugh... imagine, just imagine saying that to a woman in any westernized world...

LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
No wonder you want to get out of there.
And yesterday some new poster was bemoaning that there are no "real" men anymore. I imagine she’d want to snap up this guy right away ! 🙄

@BittersweetPotato With some women it really must be. But I hate when they think they’re speaking for all women.

And they probably have kids, so the beat goes on, to quote the song.

Omg what is up with Egyptian men today. Sexist much?

Then i went after that to an Egyptian shop to buy dinner.. two guys were sitting there, one telling the other not to fool him. He responds: i do not fool men, i am only good at fooling women.

Gave him shut up look, and put my headphones on. Enough misogyny for today.

@BittersweetPotato Lucky he didn't threaten you for not knowing your place.
Eeyore122 · 36-40, F
@tindrummer knowing place um, excuse me? I'd have spoken up, too. Discretion of those arrangements in public ...
tindrummer · M
@Eeyore122 Because they (the men) don't always know their place in civilised society and violence is always possible.

Sounds like Italy
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@SW-User I would imagine that the culture might resemble ours in some aspects, but I don't think it is as bad. I still think there is more open minded thinking as compared to the Middle East. At least men don't cover up their women like goods.
