Yet again, Americans choose to be the odd ones ๐Ÿค”

Wait!!! I just had a weird realization. The right is represented by blue in Canada and the left is red?!!!

I was thinking to myself, I follow American politics (not as much as before) but I have no idea what's going on in Canadian politics! I think I should!!

I sat there watching some YouTube videos made by a guy I used to like watching before coming here and I was confused as hell with the colours he was using!!

I had to research it to make sure that I understood it correctly.. only then I discovered that actually everyone uses blue to represent the conservatives except the US ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿค” and so we have a similar situation here like the metric thing? Can someone explain why this became the case? ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

I can explain. So for decades the news station uses red and blue on election maps but there was no standard. One station would use red for one party a particular election and another station or year someone would use red and blue for the other parties. So neither color was assigned a specific color. during the George W. Bush 2000 election one of the big news agencies used red for republicans and blue for the Dems and it being a hottly strong opinion election newscaster started talking about the voting districts being red or blue istead of by actual party and after that it just stuck.

@MethDozer Don't try. As usual, Americans just wanted to be odd and different than everyone else, makes more sense ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜’
