Musicman · 61-69, M
@ronisme1 An old favorite. 😋
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
@Musicman yes it is. I used to eat only 2 bricks per bowl. Now i have 3

@ronisme1 I am pre diabetic. I had to meet twice with the diabetes nurse to talk about diet and lifestyle. She said the absolute worst thing I could ever eat was cereal with milk. I have only had one cup of cereal in the last two years. 😢

@Musicman i am diabetic. I drink 2% milk. I have found that most diabetic nurses have a pre-conceived notion on what you should eat and they all disagree. All i can say is keep your portions small in whatever you eat. I also have a cardiac diet and i am allergic to a lot of foods so they dont even try to give me a diet as i can eat so little. (So the disagreeing). Study your ingredients on the cereals. There are dry cereals you can eat. Sometimes i eat them for snacks. All of them are not bad. There also is artificial milk. You should never be told never. Orange juice is bad for your blood sugar level but it is good in so many other ways. I'm sure a small amount can be put in your diet once in a blue moon without killing you. Try to cancel out the sugar foods. Cookies, ice cream, chocolate, easter candy. There are sugarless cookies. 1 every once in awhile. Of course they are chemical cookies. Just get rid of the cravings in small amounts. Anything you do for less sugar is good. No red meat, yeah right. Small quantity. I have never had shellfish, lobster, crab in my entire life. You learn to do without when you are allergic. Dont panic and just live your life a little differently. And for you nurses and doctors, the bottom line is to get better , right?

@ronisme1 I have had some sweets and I love potatoes of any kind. We use Fairlife fat free milk. We learned about it in Weight Watchers. Super low on carbs and has some protein in it. The cereal I had was a week ago and it was Honey Nut Cheerios.
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
@Musicman cheerios is better for you, less sugar. But again, small quantity if you have to have the honeynut. Lose the weight. Best for you.
Its ironic, my allergies i was born with so i had to avoid a lot of good foods such as bananas and melons. Because of my eating irregularities i developed diabetes and gained weight. My weight gain and diabetes developed my heart problems. Caused by a terrible diet and my meds. Nobody will admit that but i have read on the meds.
Admittedly eating sugar foods or skipping multiple meals throughout my life for sports(wrestling), allergies, working 17 hour shifts have all hurt me. Now my kidneys are going down because of the meds i take for diabetes. So they cut back on my diabetes meds and what happens, my blood sugar rises. Just as i was nearing a good blood sugar level. There is no end. Try to get a balanced diet, avoid all stress(very important) and eat small portions. Good luck. Oh, by the way, one of the diabetic meds they gave me put me in the hospital. I was allergic

@ronisme1 I am so sorry to hear that 😢 Fortunately I haven't had any problems with my meds. I take Metformin and Ozempic. My A1C number holds pretty still at 5.9.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@ronisme1 Golden Grams was one of my favorite cereals. I have considered having a cup for desert not breakfast. Is there a difference between having something like that for desert at night instead of breakfast?
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
@Musicman 5.9 is normal. Metformin affects your kidneys. That is the med they cut in half on me. The cycle begins. Also, there are side effects on ozempic. Read up on both of them. What was your blood sugar before the meds?
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
@Musicman i dont know from morning to night
Musicman · 61-69, M
@ronisme1 It was 9 point something. I started with the Metformin, but it didn't get it done. A combination of Metformin and Ozempic got it done. I have been on them for two years now.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@ronisme1 I just wasn't sure if there would be a difference between first thing in the morning after sleeping all night versus having been up and active all day.
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
@Musicman i dont know. Looks like you have plenty of questions for your doctor now.
