If you're woman in China, and your best friend is also a woman, it's common to kiss each other on the lips for congratulatory purposes. Such as birthdays.

Additionally... I'm Chinese (not hinting at anything) and I'm in China but I can't say I actually know that birthday custom. But if you read it on the internet I'm sure it's correct, and I'm not going to stop you from kissing a friend 🤗
