Best Jam Ever?

Don't know who made this (except that it says Tassos and that it says imported from Greece), but thank you.
This is the most delicious jam/marmalade I've ever had. It's got tiny pieces of figs and it's not too sweet. I had a little dollop on a couple of rice cakes this morning.

Tassos is one of my cousins. He's married, got three kids, lives in Cyprus and is a totally awesome bloke. I reckon that it's his wife, Andri that makes the Fig Marmalade.

She makes some really amazing traditional Cypriot conserves from watermelon skin, the peel of a bitter orange fruit called kytromilo (no idea what it's called in English but kytrmilo glyko is hugely popular with Greeks) and my fave, unripe walnuts. Oh and, of course fig marmalade, amongst others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

All of that is true btw...................except for the fact that Andri and Tassos don't export (or indeed sell) her conserves🤷‍♂️

I've never thought about jam from watermelon rind. Sounds good. It's pretty common in my family to make watermelon rind pickles. I will have to look up kytromilo later. Unripe walnuts? I assume that is the same as green walnuts? 🤔

@Scribbles After I posted the above, I went on a google quest to find out what kytromilo is. Apparently, it's Seville oranges 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Yes, the walnuts are picked before the outer layer hardens and the kernels inside become nuts. They are peeled and cooked with all manner of magic ingredients. It's pure alchemy in my book. Most, if not all, of my aunts back home know how much I love that gorgeous concoction and always have a few jars ready when I visit the country. It falls on deaf ears when I keep telling them that we can get all of that stuff in the UK.

I will no doubt be very happy about their selective deafness if/when I visit from Barcelona🤣🤣🤣
