One of the first jokes I ever learned as a kid:

Why didn't the man starve in the desert?

Because of the sand which is there.

@DrWatson That's a pun, it's not the same as sticking unwanted letters in the middle of a word willy-nilly.

My mother used to make a tray of sandwiches for six kids. There were options, of course. Mustard and/or mayo? Cheese? Ketchup?

Then she would put the tray of sandwhiches on the kitchen table and we would select the sandwhich that was ours.

@Mamapolo2016 It's SANDWICH. Nothing and nobody will convince me that an incorrect spelling is acceptable because IT IS NOT.

End of story.

@Mamapolo2016 I do have a sense of humour, is just doesn't sink to the level of trashing the English language or butting in on other people's comment threads when it wasn't even my own post to begin with.
