Really? Not according to Cassidy Hutchinson at the Jan 6 "hearings." She said she heard from somebody that the SS wouldn't drive him where he wanted to go.

BTW, I thought Twitter was going to be in Elon Musk's pocket, and that the Twitter people were having a conniption about it. 馃槀

Now they're having a conniption about Musk backing out of the deal. 馃槀 馃槀

I don't know what role (if any) the SS may have played in that. 馃槀 馃槀 馃槀

@Thinkerbell You must have missed the convenient deletion of texts on 1/6. The only reason to do that would be to get rid of incriminating information. I'm not saying the entire SS was in Twitler's pocket, but some agents definitely were. Also, the SS doesn't work for the president, they work for the government. Their job is to keep the president safe, which may include not allowing him to go somewhere they haven't secured first.

You clearly misunderstand the Twitter debacle. Musk offered to buy it at an inflated price, leveraging his Tesla stock to do so. It's well known that Twitter has a lot of bot accounts, so they offered Musk the opportunity to check this. He declined, then apparently thought better of his initial agreement, so he tried to back out of the deal on the grounds that he didn't know how bad the bot problem was. There are other problems, like Twitter's top talent threatening to leave the company, and Musk's model for it not being viable. The agreement included a one billion dollar penalty for backing out, which Musk refused to pay, so Twitter sued to enforce the original agreement for Musk to buy the company. Possible outcomes:

Musk has to buy Twitter for $44 million (unlikely)
Musk walks away scot-free (also unlikely)
Musk pays Twitter a settlement to break the agreement (most likely)

This whole thing got conservatives all excited because they view Musk as a savior figure who would take over the hated, censorship-loving Twitter and turn it into a right-wing cesspool like Gab, Parler, GETTR, or TruthSocial. This was made even more exciting by Musk saying that he won't support Democrats from now on. But anyone who thinks he's a conservative is either naive or projecting. Musk is an egotist.

Then why didn't the "hearing" organizers call the SS agents in to testify?
Oh, wait, that might have revealed too much about how these particular "hearings" operate. 馃槀

And it is amazing how easily records get lost in Washington,
what with deletions, computer crashes, etc. 馃槀 馃槀

Twitter's "top talent" wouldn't have been kept on in any case. Do you really suppose Musk wouldn't have been able to find any people to replace the "top talent"?

Well, that might be better than having it continue as a left-wing cesspool.
That prospect is what had the lefties so consternated initially. 馃槀 馃槀 馃槀

I would venture to guess that few multi-billionaires aren't egotists.
